Liz looked fabulous in her pin up inspired look this morning. I love photo sessions like this. It allows me to play and experiment not only with shooting but also with editing! It was so fun and I am so grateful for such awesome students and for Liz! I can’t wait to see what my student photos look like from today!

The shot (above right) was Liz walking back from her outfit change and I love capturing a real moment and the color in the sky was insane this morning! Love it!

Lisa, Chelsea and myself worked together to put on a Model Shoot Out. It was an event for photographers to come and photograph professional models for a fee. The majority of the money went to aid the Dalit’s of India through Operation Mobilization. A portion went to Rushton’s Hope, a local food and clothing pantry. We were so lucky to have access to an incredible location, beautiful models and all the equipment that was donated for the evening. I am always amazed at how one little idea can grow and more and more people get involved until something amazing happens. Thank you so much to everyone that participated! Thank you to everyone that pitched in to donate time and equipment. Thank you so very much to my friend Elisha for helping set all of the lighting up and organize the evening. Thank you to Lisa for all of the leg work you did to get this event to pull together. It was so much fun! Here are a few of my shots of the photographers hard at work as well as a few of my own shots of the models!

I went to the dance studio in my community to photograph the company dancers in motion. The dedication and strength of these girls was inspiring. The were graceful and powerful and beautiful. I hope that I will have the opportunity to go back and visit them again soon!  I love the photographs! Love them!  Thank you Studio D for allowing us to invade your class for a little while this morning, all of you were fabulous!

There is something so beautiful about a ballerina at rest to me. It reminds me of all those Degas paintings I studied in college as an art major. I love it!

I am teaching a flash workshop February 28 and needed some sample shots to show the students. I love the images we got tonight! Love them! I learned a ton of these techniques while in San Antonio at the Professional Photographers of America Conference. What great fun!

As you can see from my shoot today with Liz. I love the idea of telling a short story of the shoot and the environment that surrounded us. She was such a great sport and I loved the contrast of the bright clothing with the warm colors of the leaves and trees. Liz is an actress and you should totally check her out on The Vampire Diaries. She rocks and I can’t wait to photograph her again!

I met Juli of JULI VAUGHN DESIGNS very briefly at a wedding I shot this past September. In my photography I love to have crisp, bright color and I absolutely love Juli’s use of that vivid color in her designs. So when she asked me to collaborate with her on a styled photoshoot I was instantly on board. I had the opportunity to go by Juli’s house last week and not only would I hire her to style my wedding I am seriously thinking of having her come style my house. She is so artistic with an innate ability to combine color and pattern it’s mind boggling!

I called up my dear and ever stylish friend, Elisha, to grace us with one of her dresses for the shoot. She came along with a gorgeous dress, beautiful handmade jewelry and her fierce poses! Check out her work at her shop on ETSY.  The wedding dress she brought was very classically designed and had an awesome skirt that could be worn two different ways!

The last few weeks have been spent revamping the website, working on bringing forth a more consistent brand and super awesome and super new MySite! I have been glued to my computer it seems for the past week with getting the new site together and all the editing that needs to be done. Not to mention that I was on vacation for a week so it’s been crazy around here trying to get back into the swing of things. But nonetheless the new site is finally live and I love it!
