Commercial: Student Shoot

I think that cooler temperatures are truly never coming back! I took my students out this morning in the sweltering heat for a photo shoot with two incredible models. They did an awesome job and I can’t express how thankful I am for them to come and be guinea pigs for my students. We went to this incredible historic restoration park for the location in McDonough GA. We went for a rustic kind of feel for the shoot with warm tones and soft colors. Then we switched over to a more brightly colored look to show case my friend Elisha’s fashion! Check out her etsy shop! It rocks! I really loved some of the photos from today so I just wanted to post a few for all to see! I love my students and I love working with them on these shoots!

If any of you out there follow my blog you know that I teach a college photography course and love my students. I <3 them so much that this morning I took my students out for a location shoot with some incredibly beautiful models and awesome clothes! We didn’t actually photograph Elisha, as the title might imply, but we did have some of her incredible designs! Check out her ETSY SHOP! Be on the look out for some of these photos to grace her store front. Our models were so fun and didn’t complain as we hiked around in the 100 degree weather. My students on the other hand……;) Completely kidding of course. I love the images and I can’t wait to see all the photos my students took!

Commercial: Beautiful Collaboration

As most of you know I teach at a small college and this week my photography students are collaborating with the cosmetology students to create some great beauty shots! I love my job and as much as I am hard on my students I am really proud of them. Here is a shot of them working with Michelle and a few of my shots of her are below. I will add some more photos after my next class on Thursday!

This morning I took my students out for a shoot in Senoia, I love this town! It seems like the sun loves it too because the light is always so perfect. I am so lucky to have students that love to learn and love to shoot. I am even more lucky that I know some very talented people that come out and help put these shoots together. We had a custom dress designed by Elisha Sewell which was modeled by the gorgeous Beth! We also had Ashley come out and show us her moves in her tutu! A ballerina and a custom dress????? Who gets these opportunities to shoot???? Thank you so much to our models and Elisha, you guys ROCK! Thank you to my students for putting that new excitement in me about photography. I had a blast!

I really like the above right shot. This is Ashley on her way down from her jump. I just loved something about the light on her face.

We had fun even though none of us could jump like Ashley….we gave it try! Love you guys!

Drew is an incredible guy with a gumption like no one else I know! He’s passion for his causes is contagious. I first met him while working together for CHARITY:WATER back in December. We have been friends ever since! So when he asked me to take a few shots to use on his site I was like….ummmm YEAH! I am so glad to have friends like Drew and his wife Crystal. They are some of the best people on the planet!

I love Lori! I have known her for about 7 or 8 years now and I love how our friendship grows as the years pass! We have been through so many stages of life together that I don’t know what it would have been like without her. I am so thankful that our lives crossed paths in that glorious old art room years ago! Lori is an awesome photographer and needed some shots for her website and blog as well as some sassy photos just for fun! Why Not! Lets through on some heels and hit the streets! We were out early this morning to capture the best light. I encouraged her to bring lots of props, hair pieces, umbrellas ect….and boy did she deliver! I love it when my clients bring props for us to play with! It gives so much more variety to the photographs! We decided to head down to historic downtown Senoia. I have always wanted to shoot there and I really think I do my best when I am in a new place with new inspiration! Lori was an awesome model and even stopped, ok…redirected, some traffic!

Love you girl! Thanks for letting me photograph you! You are gorgeous!

Friday Mornings Are For Fashion!

This Friday morning I got up long before the sun even thought about it and prepared for an early fashion shoot. A few years ago I photographed Elisha’s wedding and we have remained in contact and I like to call her my friend. She is breaking out of the mold and pursuing her passion which makes me happier than I can express. She is a budding fashion designer and I can see that the sky is the limit for her! Keep going girl and you will be astonished at where you are this time next year and then the next…..you get my point. DO IT!!! I am so proud of you to follow your dream and I am in awe of your abilities!

Model Shoot With My Students

I absolutely love my students and I love going on location shoots with them and having some amazing pro models! It is experience that never can be conveyed in the classroom. It is inspiration from one another and the environment and model that drives the images that are produced. I am venturing into more commercial/fashion work and this was a great start. I am working and learning right along beside my students, feeling inspired by them! My students have come so far since last fall and I couldn’t be happier with them. I am shooting another fashion shoot with an incredible local designer next week too so keep an eye out for that blog! Here are just a few of my photos to give you a taste of what went on today. Enjoy!
