I <3 them so much that this morning I took my students out for a location shoot with some incredibly beautiful models and awesome clothes! We didn’t actually photograph Elisha, as the title might imply, but we did have some of her incredible designs! Check out her ETSY SHOP! Be on the look out for some of these photos to grace her store front. Our models were so fun and didn’t complain as we hiked around in the 100 degree weather. My students on the other hand……;) Completely kidding of course. I love the images and I can’t wait to see all the photos my students took!

We had a SHOOT OUT yesterday using the talents that we were given for the benefit of others. It is a way to help your fellow man while also taking time to truly be thankful for what we have. We filled 12 appointments where the clients had focused time with 3 photographers at their designated location (all in walking distance of one another). It was a great experience and a great way to have different styles all in one sitting. They will receive a disc of 3 ARTIST CHOICE photos from each photographer with rights to print with their session fee.

What amazed me was the common heart of giving. We sold CDs of additional images (they purchased discs of 30 images) to 10 of the 12 families and also raffled off a 16×20 print. Congrats Ashley P. for winning that! I am so happy for you!

As of right now we raised $1800.00 yesterday with the possibility of raising a little more with print sales.

I can’t believe the hard work that the photographers and volunteers showed and I am proud to be apart of such a wonderful, community and global minded group!

It seems like the sun loves it too because the light is always so perfect. I am so lucky to have students that love to learn and love to shoot. I am even more lucky that I know some very talented people that come out and help put these shoots together. We had a custom dress designed by Elisha Sewell which was modeled by the gorgeous Beth! We also had Ashley come out and show us her moves in her tutu! A ballerina and a custom dress????? Who gets these opportunities to shoot???? Thank you so much to our models and Elisha, you guys ROCK!  Thank you to my students for putting that new excitement in me about photography. I had a blast!

I really like the above right shot. This is Ashley on her way down from her jump. I just loved something about the light on her face.

I have been sorting through all the old paint colors and updating every room! We painted about 5 years ago and it’s definitely time to rework the house! We have added a new room or as my husband likes to call it “a man cave” while remodeling/designing the office. I can’t wait for it to all be done and will post pics of the finished product in about a week or so! Needless to say it’s been work work work around here….or better yet…paint paint paint! We have painted 4 rooms with 2 still to go and new furniture is coming next Wednesday! New carpet will be here on Friday! Yay!

I am totally pumped about the direction my business is taking! We are upgrading, upgrading, upgrading! I am literally counting down the days until my next photo shoot. My next wedding is not until February 27, then we hit full swing, and Susan I am marking the days off the calendar and have some exciting ideas for some incredible images! Along with pushing forward with the structure of the biz we are doing some physical changes as well. The office is getting a major face lift. I have taken some “before” shots but you will have to check in later to see them along with the “after” shots. You know I can’t show some crazy messed up shots of my office without the nice clean, redesigned shots to follow. That just would be embarrassing! Along with changes to the office I might as well as make some changes to the house too, right? OF COURSE!! I am looking forward to strolling through IKEA this Saturday in hopes of walking out with some awesome deals or at least some really cute stuff!

I didn’t really know what to expect but what I saw and learned was so incredible and insightful that I could not believe it! I learned sooooooooooo much about lighting, manual white balance, posing so it doesn’t look posed as well as marketing and much more that my brain can’t process at the moment. It was true photography overload! I took 15 pages of notes in the span of 2 days of classes!! Crazy! I had some really incredible instructors like Bry Cox, Don Chick, Lori Nordstrom, Dane Sanders, and Jerry Ghionis. I even met David Jay and Garry Fong! I am super charged for what is possible for me and my brides this year! The expo was so large it was impossible to see all of it! I did of course come back with some amazing new goodies and new connections! I can’t wait to go back next year in San Antonio!!

I got out super early in the 20 degree weather, YIKES, and headed to meet with Summer in Buckhead. Summer and I met by chance several years ago when the two of us were just starting out our businesses. It’s incredible to see how we are doing now and she is really making a name for herself! I took a few shots for her this morning and I am excited to be working on a wedding together this June! So I somehow mis-planned my day and had an entire hour to kill before a wedding consultation and as the universe would have it my car gravitated toward the pro wolf camera store in downtown….weird. So needless to say I obtained a new lens today for a great price!!!!!!!! Some women have a weakness for shoe shopping, mine however is an addiction to camera equipment! I got a great 50mm f1.8 lens today and I am excited to use it at my next wedding!

I finally pulled myself away from the camera equipment display when I looked at the time and realized I had been in there for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Remember I only had an hour to spare. oops! I yelled at the sales guy “I gotta go! I have a meeting to get to!”

I made it to the meeting with about 15 minutes to spare, thankfully. I met with a couple I have seen twice before. Lauren and Patrick were both involved in two weddings I had shot previously in the past 2 years. I love when I have someone come back to me when it is their time to marry. I always feel like I know them, like old friends. I am always more relaxed at these meetings and tend to lean back in my chair and laugh about the fun we had at the previous weddings while truly be excited about the fun that will be had at their own wedding! I am so happy that I will be working with Lauren and Patrick and I look forward to seeing their family and friends again!

Today was truly a GREAT day!

It’s getting better…..

This weekend I am headed to Nashville, TN for the Imaging USA conference! Yee Haw! I will be taking an all day class about lighting on Saturday along with some editing and marketing classes on Sunday. I am pumped to head to the Expo and run straight to the Nikon booth!!!!!!!!!! No doubt I will post photos when I come back! I might even see a cowboy…..maybe ;)

And though this shot has nothing to do with cowboys…we all know a blog is always better with a photo!
