the workshop

a1 a2 a3 a4 a5 a6 a7 a8 a9 b10 b11 b12 b13 b14 b15 b16 b17 b18 b19 b20 b21 b22 This weekend was one of the best weekends. Ever! Albeit I am a bit of a nerd and love learning. But there is something really special about being with like minded people with similar goals and determination. I am so glad that people believed in us so much and we had such amazing support for our first workshop. We had more photographers attend than I could have hoped for! They were all so eager to learn! It was rejuvenating for me to be around photographers with new fresh ideas. Our shoot went better than I could have expected. Many of the photographers were shooting manual for the first time and I know that can be overwhelming but they did it! We had time to edit the images and critique them on Sunday and everyone did so well! Sunday was great too. Jessica Ashley did an awesome job getting everyone focused and pumped up to get out there and get there business going. They learned about branding, blogging, and website design and how all of those things focus on the type of client they desire. It was so much to cram into two days but I think everyone left feeling that they learned tons, made some great new connections, and motivated. This weekend was such a success and am still pumped about it!

I got this email from one of our attendees and it made me feel so great about what we did this weekend and I am so privileged to be able to work with such generous people.

Engagement: Meagan + Mark

I had one of the best engagement sessions ever this evening! Meagan and Mark will be getting married next summer but we spent some time this evening shooting their engagement photos. They were so cute. Let me tell you we totally ROCKED this shoot! I love the images! The light was impeccable and the we brought some awesome props. Combine that with an super cute couple that like to play around and you get an amazing evening! You guys were awesome!

All I want for Christmas…..

…ok so really January 1st and not Christmas. Although I would absolutely love to get my hands on these things asap, I am holding off due to Uncle Sam! One I absoulutely need…the other….is definitely a wanted item more than a needed item. I am itching to get my hands on the Nikon 50mm f1.2 lens so bad I am dreaming about it! I can’t wait to have this lens for next years weddings and play with all of the advantages it will bring! The shoot sac on the other hand is just super cool and fun! Way better than my bulky bag I tote around on engagement shoots. I am however having my logo designed right now!!!!! I saw the preliminary designs yesterday and I am so excited. It is a process however, so nothing to show just yet. Trust me. As soon as I do it will be here in a second!

Editing this week has been going GREAT! I have completed 3 sessions and a wedding in the past week and am now focused on finishing up Amanda and Alex’s images. I am feeling very productive right now which really helps with my sanity with all the work and holiday events/shopping planned.

FLOWERS, shoes, DRESSES, dancing, LOVE, anticipation, JEWELRY, color, HAPPINESS, kisses, MAKEUP, gorgeous cakes, BRIDES, yarden, ARCHWAYS, sparklers, ROMANCE, dancing, MORE KISSES…………

Because every post is better with a photo: Here is a shot from Shannon and Steven’s wedding in the Mountains. They are what I am wrapping up as far as editing this week in between all the Thanksgiving hullabaloo!

Can I get married? Again?

We have really had some incredible weddings in the last 2 months and it makes me dream of getting married…..again! Oh, don’t worry! I am married now and will be for all eternity to my wonderful husband but would it be tacky to just go ahead and stage another wedding for the two of us? Maybe. But I might still do it anyway. It would be at least a great excuse to throw an awesome party! I am totally serious. I really might do it. Ok I will at least wait until our 5 year anniversary then it won’t seem sooooooooooo awkward! hahaha

My sweet, hard working Yarden is now engaged. Which is amazing! She has been working as my second shooter/assistant for the last 3 years so all my past brides out there that know her let’s all scream out!

“OMG! YOU’RE ENGAGED!!!!!!” (insert some loud laughing and jumping, of course)

Yarden really is the greatest and I could not do what I do without her! Love ya girl!

Things have been super crazy around here in a great way! The wedding biz is good……really good. So good that I have decided that there isn’t much time for anything else. With that in mind I will no longer offer anything other than wedding related events (with a few commercial/corporate jobs thrown in the mix). I am so blessed at the success of the studio. We already have 18 weddings booked for 2010 which is totally awesome! 18 weddings means: 144 hours of shooting, 45 hours of travel and about 375 hours of editing. Whoa! So here I go on my journey to be a specialist in wedding photography! I will miss my portraits but I love my weddings and engagement shoots. Perhaps one day I may do them again and I am sure there will be a few here and there for close friends and family. I am excited about taking this direction with my photography and I know we are going to have an incredible 2010!
